Exterior louver systems manage rainwater through blade design and system engineering. Many designs feature drainable blades, which are profiled with gutters that collect water and channel it down concealed side jambs and out through the sill, preventing it from penetrating the building. The effectiveness of a louver in resisting water penetration is often rated by industry standards like AMCA (Air Movement and Control Association). For applications requiring high resistance to wind-driven rain, such as ventilation intakes for sensitive equipment, high-performance louvers with multiple water-trapping channels and closely spaced, wave-like blades are specified. For simple screening or aesthetic applications, a standard, non-drainable blade profile may be sufficient.

The fire performance of our louver systems is excellent, as they are fabricated from solid, non-combustible aluminum plates. Aluminum is classified as a non-combustible material (Euroclass A1) and will not contribute fuel to a fire. While the decorative surface finish, such as a powder coating, may discolor or char under extreme heat, it is a thin layer that will not independently support combustion or propagate flames. The high melting point of aluminum (~660°C or 1220°F) ensures the louver’s structural integrity for a longer duration than many other building materials during the initial stages of a fire, providing a safe option for facade and ventilation applications.
